Smoke gets in your eyes

Question:
What the hell is going on?

Answer:
A. Climate change.

Our increasing inability to accept complexity and reject singular narratives is going to be the death of us.

“Our increasing inability to accept complexity and reject singular narratives is going to be the death of us.” This sentence nails it, Rita. (It’s one of the many reasons I had to leave my climate activist group; I wish I could write about that.)

Thank you for posting this, Rita. I’ve been thinking of you, hoping you were still as ok as it was possible to be under the circumstances. I imagine that all of your posts for the next few weeks—or however long the fires last—will come as a relief to all your blogging friends/readers.

    Stay safe.

I wish you could write about that, too. We are OK (right now). The air is a real issue, but it will pass (for now). Many others are not OK.

      I appreciate your concern.

You are so right. I am so tired of stupidity. Stupidity is going to be the death of us.
I am so sorry you all are going through this but to be clear, we ALL are going through this.
We need to start acting like we are all part of this country together. I feel so sad for all of you and wish we could help in some way. Tell me how to help. Is there something we can do from here that we don’t necessarily know about? Spreading a message on my blog or on the social media accounts I DO have? 😉 Let me know. I am still around on Instagram and Twitter if you want to talk. Message me on Instagram and I can give you my number.

      Hi Kari,
Thank you so much. You do more than you know. I watched The Social Dilemma last night because of your post. One of my multiple choice options should have been social media–for distorting truth and spreading misinformation. I agree that we all need to realize that our well-being is interconnected. It’s hard not to feel hopeless, but I do have hope. It’s dim, but it’s there.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this in top of everything else. I’m so so so so sick of being treated like Henny Penny when shit is seriously fucked up. I’d apologize for my language, but I’m not sorry. People turning a blind eye is the profanity – not my language.

I said to my therapist today that I don’t have the constitution one needs to be in this situation. I have the energy to put one foot in front in the other. That’s it.

    • Rita says:

Oh, I thought I’d responded to this earlier. I think your constitution is much stronger than you give it credit for. And, yeah on the Henny Penny thing. Also, all my favorite people swear like truckers.

  4. Kate says:

I someone accidentally sent that before I was done.

Reading your message to Kari that have you have dim hope, helps me have hope. It helps me keep putting that one foot in front of the other.

Sending hugs and prayers and thoughts for rain.
